BOOK REVIEW: The Heir By Kiera Cass

Posted by Jane Chen on June 6, 2015 at 10:30 AM

I really enjoyed this book, and I'm excited for the next book in this kind of "spin-off" series of the Selection series. However, like any book, there are flaws in the perfection.

First of all, the romance-something I absolutely LOVED at first. But later on, (and this isn't a spoiler) Princess Eadlyn frustrates me so much by the way she acts, and the romance just.... frustrating. I think Kiera Cass kind of wanted it to be like that, and if so, then she did a good job.

I also don't think I like the narrator, Princess Eadlyn, very much. Don't get me wrong, she would be a fantastic leader. But as a person, she is kind of a brat, even though she claims she isn't. In the beginning of the story, I looked at the way she spoke and I was unsure of her character-whether she would be a character I would like.... I didn't end up liking her, really. I kind of enjoy the parts where she snaps at the boys in the Selection, but the fact that she's being so rude far overshadows the humor I find in the boys' reactions.

Tell me what you think about the book, and comment below with any questions. I like writing book reviews, it's a way to write down and record what I thought about any book-who knows, some day I might go back on these blog posts and read them over again, seeing what I once thought of everything.
